Happy Friday everyone! We’ve made it through another week. It was a pretty nice week here in the Burgh and an even better week for us here at The Coop. Clay came home! After a far too long stint of out of town work, he is home working just outside of Pittsburgh. Needless to say, the girls and I are incredibly happy.
Which brings me to why we are going to focus on children’s books today. Every night, I read to the girls before bed. When he is home, Clay reads Little Ro’s books to her.

1. I Love You Stinky Face
I first came across I Love You Stinky Face by Lisa McCourt when it was given to my youngest brother years and years ago when he was about 3. We read it to Lis when she was a baby and now we read it to Little Ro. It’s such an adorable story about how a mother loves her baby no matter what. What I didn’t know is that there are MORE Stinky Face books! We will be getting a couple of those for Christmas this year.
2. Love Monster
Love Monster by Rachel Bright was given to Little Ro by her Gigi shortly after she was born. It is a Publishers Weekly #1 Best Seller and rightfully so. It’s a wonderful story about how if you wait, love will find you when the time is right. Oh…and I didn’t know there were more Love Monster books either! Obviously I’m missing out on some great series but now my Christmas shopping is well on it’s way to being done.
3. Goodnight Moon
When Clay first started reading to Lis as a baby, Goodnight Moon by Margaret Wise Brown was always his go to. His parents read it to him all the time when he was a child and it’s been his favorite ever since. No obviously this is a classic so I don’t have to argue too much further as to why it’s such a wonderful book.
4. The Pout Pout Fish
Guys…The Pout Pout Fish by Deborah Diesen is one of the funniest children’s books ever! Why? Because the whole thing can be rapped! Like…Ludacris needs to make a video for this. The first time we read it, Lis started breakin’ it down in the corner of Little Ro’s bedroom. The story line is adorable and points out that anyone can be happy! And hey, guess what! There are more Pout Pout Fish books!
Drum roll please………
5. Belly Button Book
The Belly Button Book by Sandra Boynton will forever be my favorite children’s book. It’s all about a herd of hippos and their love for “bee bo’s”! Some of you may not know but I love love love hippos. (Check out my favorite hippo mug in this post!) I found this book when Lis was just a baby and I give it to the mother-to-be at every baby shower I go to. I love it.
